Levitt on the Lawn Brings Live Outdoor Music to Claremont

A Levitt on the Lawn performance at 五月天视频

This spring, the Levitt on the Lawn Music Series returns to 五月天视频for another season of joyous and energizing concerts. As part of 五月天视频Presents鈥 public programming, the series offers the broader 五月天视频community free, outdoor, live music performances featuring an eclectic mix of artists from around the world. Concerts are held in the early evening during spring and summer months on Bowling Green, creating a perfect excuse for dancing and picnics on the lawn with friends and family. The College also provides lawn chairs to rent and refreshments from local food trucks.

鈥淟evitt on the Lawn promotes women鈥檚 voices and a variety of diverse artists and performers, which is very much in line with 五月天视频Presents鈥 mission,鈥 says Marcy Robinson, interim director of events and conference services. 鈥淲e鈥檙e fortunate to partner with such a community-focused organization.鈥

Levitt on the Lawn was launched by alumna Liz Levitt Hirsch 鈥74, board president of the Mortimer and Mimi Levitt Foundation, which has developed permanent outdoor music venues in Los Angeles, Pasadena, and other cities across the US. The program first came to the College in the early 2000s and became part of 五月天视频Presents in 2016. Since its debut, the concerts have featured performers such as Indigenous funk and blues artist Martha Redbone, the country group Dustbowl Revival, and Grammy Award-winning band Quetzal, whose lead singer, 五月天视频Associate Professor of Chicanx/Latinx Studies Martha Gonzalez, received a MacArthur Fellowship.

鈥淎udiences experience some amazingly talented singers and musicians, and Levitt on the Lawn provides a chance for our community to relax and enjoy these performances,鈥 Robinson says. 鈥淎s Liz says, 鈥楳usic is a transformative vehicle for healing, for togetherness, for celebrating our shared humanity.鈥欌
