2018

Engaging with children through picture books: Julie Long OAM      

Julie Long presented : Engaging with children through picture books: A session for educators, parents, grandparents and everyone who loves sharing books with children.  An interactive session on how to ‘get inside a book’ with a child.  The session couldbe used for Teacher Identified PL and a certificate of attendance were provided.

2017

The IMAGINE IF ... exhibition was held from Monday 10 July through Wednesday 30 August. On display were original artworks from many of Australia’s most esteemed picture book illustrations. Also  the creative process was revealed, with displays of have preliminary artwork and manuscripts. Sessions for children and professional development for teachers, librarians and budding writers and illustrators were held.

On exhibition were forty original artworks from the never-seen-before CBCA Children's Book Week collection as well as jewels from our Centre. The creators on display were Kerry Argent, Graeme Base, Freya Blackwood, Ron Brooks, Neil Curtis, Kylie Dunstan, Vivienne Goodman, Peter Gouldthorpe, Bob Graham, Brian Harrison-Lever, Elizabeth Honey, Patricia Mullins, Narelle Oliver, Matt Ottley, Gregory Rogers, Anne Spudvilas, Shaun Tan, Jane Tanner, and Steven Woolman.

Two events were held at Muse - 'Meet Bob Graham' for young people and 'Meet the creator - Bob Graham" aimed at adults.

'Meet' Pixie O'Harris - ALIA House, 9-11 Napier Close, Deakin (17 September 2014)

The Bob-a-thon Festival - events celebrating Bob Graham (June-August 2014)

Bob Graham Retrospective Exhibition - The Canberra Museum and Gallery, in association with the Centre and Books Illustrated in Melbourne ran a major retrospective exhibition of Bob Graham's work. The exhibition, with activities and programs ran from 17 May - 24 August 2014.

2013

Showcase: Festival of Australian Children's Literature - featured 15 authors and illustrators and ran from 1 October – 15 November 2013. Partners included Libraries ACT, ACT Writers Centre, National Library of Australia, and The Children's Book Council of Australia, ACT Branch as well as the Australian Library and Information Association. Over 1,600 attended the 12 events including an exhibition of Dinosaurs Love Cheese by Jackie French and Nina Rycroft. 2012

Boundless: Festival of Australian Children's Literature - Canberra (3 October-17 November 2012)

Boundless featured Gabrielle Lord and Andy Griffith in a variety of events at school and public libraries and elsewhere in Canberra. The Centre worked in association with the Showcase collaborating partners. There were six mini-exhibits featuring in Libraries ACT.
