UC research covers a range of disciplines across our five faculties and research centres and institutes, and we have a strong focus on multidisciplinary research to solve complex local and global problems.

Our ambitious plan for research at the University has led to reimagining our researcher development (UC ReD) programs to service various researcher career stages, and developing an impact framework to support researchers and teams to design, undertake, disseminate and integrate research that makes an impact within and beyond academia.
The University’s Performance Expectations for Academic Staff (PEAS) focus on supporting our academics to establish and progress their career, in addition to achieving traditional performance measures. UC is committed to supporting our early career researchers with our UC ReD IGNITE program, a small cohort experience focussing on personalised support and tailored training to complement in-faculty mentoring. Our centrally funded Outside Studies Program is an opportunity for academic staff to immerse themselves in another research environment at another institution or organisation for their professional growth and career development.

UC is committed to developing our future researchers and highly skilled professionals. Our higher degree by research (HDR) candidates collaborate with academics and other researchers in our centres, institutes and faculties to produce new knowledge and expertise in their chosen research field.
Many of our research students contribute to coursework degrees, learning through teaching and developing core skills for an academic. There is also a range of research scholarships available to support research students over the course of their studies.
UC’s HDR candidates have opportunities to work directly with industry partners, driving cutting-edge research and solutions that deliver tangible benefits to organisations and the wider community.
